BOOM: Boomers on Outreach Mission
BOOM is back for the third time! For adults 60+ (though we’re not checking IDs!), Hinton’s Boomers on Outreach Mission will be offered October 4 – 9, 2026. Participants will serve in Hinton’s Safe & Healthy Home Repair ministry, meeting and “walking alongside” neighbors in Hinton’s 3-county service area of Clay and Cherokee counties in NC and Towns County, GA. The mission week replicates the 10-week summer mission outreach experience for youth mission teams, but is adapted for adults, who will have 3.5 days for home repair projects, with Wednesday afternoon and evening free. Highlights of the week also include daily devotionals, Appalachian Culture Night, worship, and poverty awareness activity. Lodging is clean and comfortable, with bed linens and towels provided. And each room has its own bathroom. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals or groups, with registration per person (no group registrations). Individuals get to choose what project(s) they will work on in advance. Hinton staff plan and coordinate work-site projects, provide all materials/supplies/tools, and lead worship and other programming.
COST: $425/person (2 adults/room) or $450 (single). Includes 5 nights lodging, 13 meals, project materials, programming. Commuter rate ($285) available for local residents.
